Mindgruve took home a grand total of nine ADDYs at the San Diego 2020 American Advertising Awards. Work for Bay City Brewing Co., a fast-growing, independent craft beer maker, stood out among the integrated agency’s submissions while a handful of its projects for software companies Kandji and Mitek were also recognized.

The American Advertising Awards is one of largest competitions of its kind in the industry, founded to recognize and reward the spirit of creative excellence in advertising. It attracts nearly 35,000 professional and student submissions each year.

Specially selected, independent judges evaluate multiple dimensions of each of those submissions. Gold ADDY awards are recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and is considered superior to all other submissions in the category. Other outstanding submissions worthy of recognition receive Silver or Bronze ADDY awards. The total distributed is determined by the judges, based on the quality of work relative to each category. Out of all San Diego submissions, only 76 were recognized this year. Just 13 earned Gold.

The local show represents the first of a three-tier, national competition. Gold and Silver ADDY awards recipients in San Diego advance to the District 15 competition where they will be judged against winners from Los Angeles, Orange County and Las Vegas. Winners there move on to the final tier and compete against the most outstanding work from around the U.S.
