Mindgruve is seeking an IT Help Desk Technician to support our growing global organization and ensure our technical infrastructure is meeting operational and security needs, while managing technology tools, network servers and monitoring the performance of our systems.  

The role will support all internal IT related tasks, including configuration of new user equipment software & hardware, desktop support, data security, system maintenance, inventory management of assets, and escalation/troubleshooting for staff issues. This part-time position will provide in-house help desk support at the San Diego headquarters on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8am-5pm, as well as virtual assistance to remote users, both domestic and international.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Provide high quality end-user technical support, related to software and hardware
  • Provide investigation, diagnosis, resolution and recovery for hardware/software problems
  • Assess, triage, research, and resolve incidents and requests regarding the use of application software products and/or infrastructure components in a fast paced environment.
  • Create a positive customer support experience, build rapport and trust with end users through professional attitude and approach to problem understanding
  • Ensure timely resolution or escalation by providing urgency, business impact evaluation and communicating the status to the end user promptly
  • Install, modify, clean up, run diagnostic programs and repair computer hardware/ peripherals and software
  • Provide initial support for all IT technology platforms for the entire global organization 
  • Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory 
  • Manage help desk tickets from creation to resolution, including detailing troubleshooting steps and escalating issues to higher tier resources when required 
  • Configure IT equipment for onboarding/offboarding including imaging, configuration, IT orientation and physical set up 
  • Interact with third party vendors for support and purchases 
  • Manage and enhance as needed the networking infrastructure and systems to achieve business goals.
  • Provide IT guidance to other departments as needed to help achieve goals
  • Provide and enable a culture of understanding IT security best practices, including but not limited to passwords, social engineering, phishing, cracking, etc.
  • Partner with engineering as needed on company-wide technological implementations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure that the IT services are aligned with the company's strategic objectives and priorities
  • Monitor and report on vendor’s delivery of services
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and service improvements through the effective management of the vendors to develop strategies to realize those opportunities
  • Must be flexible and able to work off-hours as required to support deployments, resolve production problems, or respond to corporate emergencies
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required

We Need a Person With:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in an IT Help Desk Technician role, ideally within a fast paced work environment
  • Bachelor’s degree – preferably in information systems, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or other related discipline 
  • MacOS & Microsoft Windows expertise REQUIRED
  • Strong understanding of technology and the ability to independently apply that knowledge to support all existing systems and troubleshoot issues
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and equivalent Mac applications (i.e. Pages, Numbers & Keynote)
  • Experience providing IT support for users on Mac and Windows devices
  • Linux experience a plus
  • Experience with Kandji (or similar Apple MDM) and Windows based PC MDMs
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, a plus 
  • Experience implementing and managing Google Workspace
  • Able to configure a variety of devices, including servers, network equipment, A/V equipment, desktops, laptops, iPhone/Android smartphones and printers, etc. 
  • Preferred experience in adhering to compliance standards for HIPAA, PCI, SOC-2, ISO 27001 and related.
  • Apple Technical certifications a plus
  • Experience working with Cisco, HP, pfSense & Unifi/Ubiquiti routers & switches
  • Ability to configure and maintain firewalls
  • Familiarity with VOIP systems as well as Zoom phone & room

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
