On February 4th of this year, Facebook celebrated its 10th birthday. Yes, that’s how long the platform that allows you to document your life has been around. To celebrate, a team at Facebook built videos for each user, putting together a “Look Back” compilation of shared moments (mainly of photos and status updates) in a minute-ish long video.

If you haven’t checked it out already, see yours here. Make sure you’re logged in to Facebook.

Tearing up from some sentimental nostalgia? You’re probably not alone. Facebook has become an easy to way to document our daily lives and these videos are powerful reminders of how much our lives have revolved around this social media platform. Depending on when you joined Facebook, these videos give a look back at your evolving (or not?) personal style, the relationships that have blossomed or dissipated, your most liked status updates (mine included a “colorful” reference to graduating from college), and more heartstrings-tugging moments in your life.

With numbers apparently dipping amongst young teens, perhaps Facebook focused their attention on nostalgia to remind you that you’ve invested (too much) time and energy on this decade-old platform, and they don’t want you to forget it.

We’ll have to wait and see if these efforts from Facebook help in the longevity of the platform. Anxious to see what’s in store for Facebook in the next 10 years!
